Plan bar thickness and end pieces before choosing a cutter
Measure the part of the loaf you want to turn into bars. Compare your target thickness with the cutter's actual spacing and check what will be left at the ends.
Separate usable length from nominal length
Measure the loaf you expect to cut, then leave room for any rough end you plan to remove. A mold label is a starting point. The length that matters to the cutter is the portion you can place against its support or stop.
Choose a repeatable thickness
If you make the same size bar regularly, a fixed wire spacing gives you a consistent reference. If you make several sizes, compare a single cutter with a stop or a frame with documented spacing adjustments. Check which part of the tool moves and whether that motion changes actual cut spacing.
Check the end pieces
Divide your usable loaf length by your target thickness to estimate how many full bars fit. A 9-inch usable loaf would fit nine nominal 1-inch pieces before any extra margin is needed. Check the position of the first wire and whether the frame supports the last cut.
