Fit a column mold or texture tool to the bar you want
Check where the feature will sit, how large it will appear on the cut face and what is included to hold it in place.
Compare the outline against the finished cut face
A column mold creates a long shape that can show in several slices. Compare its widest and tallest points with the main loaf cavity. Check the sides and top for the clearance you want around the shape. An example bar can show the pattern without identifying its exact dimensions.
Match the support to the tool
Some flexible column molds use clips or external support. Check the package for those parts before treating it as a complete setup. Compare the length inside the mold rather than the full distance including its openings or flange.
Choose which surface to change
A texture mat affects the surface it touches, while a column embed can appear through the sliced loaf. Compare the mat's thickness and useful area against the receiving mold. Use the maker's method guidance when choosing an insert or a mold.
